Kombucha Kamp Challenge 1 month agoBooch is bottled and fermenting on the counter for a few days… drank some and it’s nice and tart… flavored bottles with Passion Hibiscus herbal tea and Yerba Mate Chai. Testing a colored glass bottle that is tested safe for wine and beer but not sure of safety with low Ph… we’ll see if it’s ok… these bottles are only $2.50 for a case of…[Read more]

Kombucha Kamp Challenge 1 month, 1 week agoWoohoo…my 2 gallon continuous brew is just beginning to grow a scoby…AND…I was able to grow my own scoby using GT original … Now I have a batch system started and a continuous system….kombucha…here I come.
-
NICE!!! I put a heating pad next to my jars and my first skoby really took off when I did that. It’s exciting isn’t it!!!
-
Yeah, I stuck the home grown scoby one in the closet with the hot water tank as it’s nice and warm in there..think that helped
The continuous brew is in my kitchen and taking longer..probably because it’s a larger volume (2 gallons ) and my house isn’t the warmest…still waiting to get my heating system from Hannah, but glad to see…[Read more]

Mine too I checked Ph yesterday and it’s down to 3.0 but still REALLY sweet… smells nice and sour though and not near enough carbination but from what I’ve read that comes more with the bottling.
-
Yes – the pH only indicates that your brew is protected from invasion by other harmful organisms. Taste is king – let your tongue tell you when the KT is ready.

Kombucha Kamp Challenge 1 month, 1 week agoHi just joined the group and site. I started drinking KT 2 weeks ago and already am cutting back on Senna (an herbal laxative) and sleep meds! I’m brewing 2 batches the first started 7 days ago and the second Sunday. I’m concerned about the look of my first Skoby. I have the brown stuff that I’ve read about I think but still concerned if…[Read more]

Ohhhh and my Psoriasis that was mostly clear from my changed eating habits and that came back when I ate gluten again in February is mostly cleared up already! I’m going to make some hair tonic from my first batch!
-
Is the bround stuff underneath the floating scoby? Then it’s probably the normal yeast that grows beneath. It might even form strands and hang down like seaweed and try to sneek out of your spigot if you have one. Brown is okay. Black or blue is Not.

Kombucha Kamp Challenge 1 month, 1 week ago-
@Metqa the brown stuff started out with strings now they have gone away and new skoby is forming on top, changing the appearance, and it’s looking like brown and grey mixed now but that could be the skoby changing the appearance.
-
that sounds okay to me…. My KT is not bubbly from the tap, I have to second ferment it to get any bubbles. But I like mine either flat or bubbly so long as it’s nice and tart.
-
-
Ok pics are up but they aren’t great. my Ph is at 3.0 now but I tasted it yesterday and it’s still pretty flat and not quite sour enough. I didn’t get sick though so I’m hoping that’s a good sign that my spots are normal LOL

Kombucha Kamp Challenge 3 months, 2 weeks ago30 days later and the dry patch of skin I had behind my ear is completely gone and the skin is smooth. On top of that the other patch on my hairline at the base of my neck is totally gone too. Been years since that was gone. I lost 4 lbs. Not sure I needed to but maybe I did. I’ve kept my eating habits pretty normal but I am not craving an…[Read more]

Kombucha Kamp Challenge 3 months, 2 weeks agoI bottled this weekend… 12 beautiful bottles of KT are now on second ferment. For flavors I did two naturals (which I’ve already had one), 2 ginger, 2 ginger with lime, 2 blueberry, 2 grape, 2 orange peel with hibiscus and rose hip. YUM! they are all so beautiful.

Kombucha Kamp Challenge 3 months, 2 weeks agoYou want me to do WHAT! You want me to go straight to the one thing that has had me in bondage that i’ve finally broken free of and stare it in the face and taste it… You are crazy, that’ll undo all i’ve done…. So that was my first thought when i read the taste test info. Then I went back and read it again and gave some thought and…[Read more]

Kombucha Kamp Challenge 3 months, 3 weeks agoDay 21 of challenge and day 7 of my cabbage soup plan. I am down 6 pounds. Have eating no simple carbs drank and no booze. I feel great. I didn`t even mind at two parties we had this weekend.
Yesterday I had a slight start of a head ache and drank some KT and ate a couple spoonfuls of my kefirkraut. How is everyone else feeling? -

Kombucha Kamp Challenge 3 months, 3 weeks agoI am hitting Wegmans today! picking up Borax, Castor oil, soap flakes. I have a large bag of baking soda and lots of vinegar. I`ll be ready to spring clean a non toxic way. I read about washing baking but read that it is caustic so I`ll stick to the lower pH baking soda.

This is what I am making today Washing machine soap:
1 cup of pure soap flakes or powder
2 to 4 tablespoons of washing soda (available at large supermarkets)Add to the washing machine as it is filling with water. Use 2 tablespoons of washing soda for soft water, 4 tablespoons for very hard water.
BUT using the baking soda in place of the washing soda.

Kombucha Kamp Challenge 3 months, 3 weeks agoI’ve recently changed to an organic shampoo and conditioner. I am just not happy with it. My hair (long, straight) now feels brittle and tangles are awful. It’s better if I use my old conditioner, but I think the shampoo is too strong. I only shampoo once or twice a week. I think I may try something else… but this stuff is very expensive and I…[Read more]

I have to switch my organic shampoos and conditioners up ALL the time because my hair is very long and straight and can get brittle if I dont. I had to do that with the typical shampoos as well. I find that doing coconut oil treatments and aloe vera treatments help too.
-
How do you do the coconut treatments? Do you just melt a little coconut oil in warm water and then put it in your hair or is there an easier, less messy way to do this? Do you leave it in or wash it out? If you wash it out, how long do you leave it on first?
-
I do it like i used to do the hot V-oil treatments back in the day. I warm it up in hot water and then apply it to my head. Wrap it in a damp warm towel (or dry one is fine too). Leave it in for 15 min or longer, and then wash out. to detangle. I put a very small amount of coconut oil on my hands and put it in the ends of my hair. (don’t…[Read more]

NessAlla Kombucha 3 months, 3 weeks agoSo I’m still totally on board with the challenge. Again, I want to thank NessAlla for helping me out!
No soda of any sort since the beginning of the year!
I have also started taking Vitamin D, Fish Oil and Valerian to help with seasonal moodiness, mental focus and sleep issues repectively. Along with the booch, I am feeling great.
